This site is composed primarily of "digital art," a term taken to be a contradictory combination by many of the artsy elite.   But, like photography, it will have to seep into the mainstream and into acceptance.

The objections are various:

    "It is not hand-crafted."

"It can only produce prints, not originals."

"Computers are too accessible to everyone."

"Anyone can play with art programs."

I could retort to each of these comments, but I don't like arguments.   All I can say is, "If you like what you see, that's wonderful.   If you don't, you can move along to something else."

Computer generated graphics are qualified here as art in the sense that they require personal skill and a discerning eye just as in any art.   The fact that software technology may play a part in the "appearance of technique" is still minimal compared to the requirement for aesthetic discrimination on the part of the digital artist.   The true artist must have an eye for design and composition, regardless of the medium.
